Center bore variation
If the center bore of an aftermarket wheel is 1.5mm greater than OEM
(74.1 vs. 72.6), would that present a problem or be dangerous in any way? Thanks |

Personally, I would not buy wheels that need those. I had some once on a Volvo. They are flimsy and can break, and they can just fall off. Imagine going to the tire store and telling them "You have to be very careful because I have these little flimsy plastic rings holding my wheels centered." You need them because the wheel bolts alone are not sufficient to hold the wheel perfectly centered.

...but if you do use them and you are not the one doing work with your wheels...DO let those that are working on your car know that there are hub centric rings. If they don't know they are there...the rings will sometimes stay inside the wheel when removed...and can later fall out when they lay the wheel down...or it can stay on the hub. If the ring stays on the hub and you doing a wheel rotation...then if the ring is still in the wheel they are trying to mount and there still a ring on the hub...then one or both could get damaged as they are trying to mount wheels that they think should slide onto the hub without any issues.
The rings do work but you've gotta let people know they are there if you're having work done by others.
