In reality the car is up for grabs until it's paid for.

For all you know, he could have been deployed somewhere. From what I can gather, he's getting ready to move. Not an easy task in the military. Believe me, I know. If either one is the case, as much as you might not like it, you probably didn't even rate in his top ten thousand things to worry about.

Finally got my account approved to comment on this thread. Seller 100% seemed to be on the up and up when I spoke to him. The only reason this car isn't on its way to my driveway is that I can't safely fly out from the East Coast at this moment. Someone is going to get a great deal though.
