I know this is primarily a M3 forum but the specific forum to ZHP I looked to join is locked down so I thought maybe some members here could help me.

I am looking at a 2004 330i ZHP, 108k miles, automatic. Seller is asking $13,900

CarFax shows 2 owners with a "moderate" damage accident from the first owner @ around 12,000 miles. I inquired from the current owner if he knew what happened was told previous owner backed up into a trailer hitch and damaged rear bumper/trunk. Trunk/bumper was said to be replaced.

Only noticeable exterior flaws are fading of the plastic trim on bumpers, stress cracks on front right bumper, and front bumper right side panel gap (which makes me think maybe they bumped a parking block or something). Headlight housings are faded.

Mechanically the owner said it has a full history of maintenance records as well as the carfax shows consistent maintenance and inspections by a BMW dealer.

I have looked up comparable recently sold models and found the manual transmission ZHP are fetching a $3-$5k premium over an automatic.

I also pulled some recently sold examples from BAT to get an idea of the going prices.

Seller says his price is firm @ $13,900 which I feel is a little high due to the accident on carfax, panel gap on bumper, headlight lenses needing to be refinished/replaced, and of course the fact its an automatic. Also when compared to the only recently sold automatic on BAT I could find with 1/2 the mileage and no accidents.

I thought a price of around $11,000-$12,000 is more inline with what it would go for which in my opinion is still high but when factoring in the chip shortage and inflation sounds reasonable.

Going to bring all this up with the seller when I meet this weekend. Just thought I would get an opinion from other enthusiasts first. In the unlikely chance the seller is on this forum, you get a head start on preparing to counter offer I suppose.

Don't have anything valuable to offer except that I had a 2005 330i zhp 6-speed that I sold back in 2013. Car had a clean title and carfax, 106K miles and sold it for $10,750. Surprised at how well these things have held their value. Good luck with your negotiations.
