I just finished rod bearing last week. Significant noticeable performance and gas mileage improvement from 17.4L/100km to 15.7L/100km. I didn't have a knock sound though.
Was at 235,000km when the service is done. Mechanic said it was the right timing to do the rod bearing. Wasn't close to the engine blowing up just yet, but it was worn. I am a casual driver though. Only went to couple 3-4 autocrosses and one drag day with only 2 pulls. Doing Vanos, valve adjustment, steering rack leak, next week. Did my 1st valve adjustment at around 120,000km ish. I am doing it the 2nd time. |
