Haha do a search you find a post of me telling you Z4 3.5is engine will be used. I was an idiot and it wasn t thru. My bmw insider won t lie either
So we have a car which has an engine from a AG car. an suspension from an M3 brakes from an M3 subframe from an M3 diff from an M3 wheels from an GTS M3 Coupe body from AG. What is new then. Wide arches, carbon roof and exhaust and some sporty seats. And the latest rumor is. The car might not have a full mechanical diff but an E brake diff. |

A crappy e-diff would put me off more than anything. Yep, even more than the turbochargers... It's still got a chance with me though |

It's not like we can't mod a regular 135i to have all this... The main ingredients I would demand from M Division are: mechanical diff, better-engineered suspension(NO under-steer, little to NO body-roll)

Well I've just checked what's on the autobild's homepage and here's a small article about the coming 1 ///M ! You can check the link here, but it's in german:
http://www.autobild.de/artikel/bmw-1...=36&now=78#mmg In the article is given a little bit different info as in the magazine. Here is a small overview: Engine: ~350 HP, will be some kind of derivative of the N54, as the one in 135i Chasis: lighter than than current 135i, through the use of light-weight materials Transmission: 6 MT, so far the article says that the DCT is not foreseen for 1///M Suspension: very sport-adjusted Differential comes at all cost. Well probably nothing new, but it's strange how these guys contradict themselves! Anyway I thing this will be a small beast, and will be a big step towards the values, which all BMW enthusiasts appreciate. Let's just wait for some specs conformation from BMW, because this speculations are killing me! |

Seeing how our 135's are underrated by 20-30hp from the factory puts this new M in the 355+ range if said above hp numbers turn out to be true.

Everyone needs to just relax and wait. One bogus article and people are up in arms. Remember when the articles all said this is an 135is with an NA engine?? They were...speculating yet again. BMW has not released any official figures, let's all relax and just enjoy the pictures until we get some real information. Seems like some of you out there are still on the prowl to put the car down if for no reason other than you want it to fail...I would think that as BMW enthusiasts, we would want them to produce great cars, even if it's not one we would buy (ie...doesn't have to have all the crap we want on it...just be a great car). |

Car and driver drove the 1-M quite consistent with the Autobuild article:
Although, it was sitting in the passenger seat, it gives a precise idea of most of these things, if not all (except the motor code and exact weight specs). Footnotes: - Still N54 engine with 335 HP - No mention worthy exhaust sound let alone the wail of a typical M car - Low-revving engine much like X5 M, X6 M and F10 M5 - Weighs around 3400 - 3500 lbs - Still some turbo lag - Handles well http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=406437

I wonder if the 1M will have that automatic adjusting redline like the M3 has that once the engine is warmed up the redline goes up.

Why seriously?? What is so scary about a typical 6800 - 7000 rpm redline when the engine is cold since 95% cars these days can rev that high? If that was an issue then just about every car out there will have lowering redlines then.

i suppose the journalist on the passenger seat could see how far the rev counter would go.
If it stops at 7000 rpm we proberly know it s a souped up AG turbo engine. If the engine screams at more then 8000 rpm then it s a proper motorsport engine. |

7k redline is confirmed in the interior shots. the more details that come out the more meh it gets for me. knowing bmw this car might actually weight more than a 135 which will be the deal breaker
