Taking the Garage Queen for a road trip

My garage queen is taking a road trip for O'Fest Forever at Hilton Head this week. With a new clutch, flywheel, and motor mounts it drives like it's brand new. It'll have 70,000 miles on it by the time I get home, but the E46 M3 is still the reference standard for the comfort/performance trade off. I still marvel at the telepathic steering and controls. You don't drive these cars, you wear them.

That’s a beauty! How did it feel driving it all refreshed down to SC? Got more pics from the event?

The car was fantastic. Round trip NJ to HH, and it is as comfortable as anything I've driven. The new clutch and motor mounts made it feel brand new, and the aftermarket head unit with CarPlay gave it enough tech to feel modern. It was a really good highway cruiser. This trip reminded me that it's really hard to make a car that's better overall than an E46.

Looks just like my old E46 M3… kind of got in my feelings when I saw your pic, still one of my favorite cars. Wish I never sold it.

Thanks! I posted this a month or two before picking up my G80 at the Performance Center in December 2021. I still love the E46, but the G80 is a better car overall. Yes, it lacks the telepathic steering, but it isn’t bad. The G80 is light years ahead I almost every other way. If I had to choose one, the E46 might not be it. I think he G80 is that good.
