Neighbor's static E46 M3

My neighbor has an e46 M3 that has been sitting in his driveway since I moved here 3 years ago. They haven't moved it once. It's an SMG M3 which in the surface scares me but I'm not sure how reliable they are.

Some general questions I have are about how easy it is to find parts and junk cars for parts and if it's reasonable to do an auto to manual swap on this car?

Ideally I'd do the work enjoy the car for a few years then sell it as a restoration project.

The interior from what I've seen is OK but no mileage estimate. I wouldn't want to spend more than 20k after purchase restoring it.
