S54 Crank Awesomeness

I just have to share this.

An owner with an S54 with that spun a bearing was given the advice to "emery cloth" it and it should be good to go...

Ah, Facebook for the win.

Attached is the photo of the crank. Hey deansbimmer, this will buff out, right?

Stay safe out there.

A wise friend told me "I stopped trying to make a slow car go fast. Instead, I bought a fast car." Sound advice.

I've actually done similar. Got some muriatic acid and let the crankshaft sit in it for a few hours and cleaned the aluminum off the crank journal from the connecting rod.

To be fair this was on a 9hp snowblower engine, I wouldn't attempt that on an S54.

Edit: This also likely wouldn't work because I believe the bearings in the S54 are lead not aluminum.
