I think you might just be confusing the difference between 1x1 and 2x2 weaves, though they said they're going to do 2x2 as well. Also, considering those pics were prototype pieces and they now sand and paint the edges basically takes care of the only part that looked like a lower quality piece.

Looks great to me, plus, can't beat the warranty and customer service from IND.

I'm not sure why, but I always thought both the big and small 1x1 weave styles also look "cheaper" than the standard 2x2 weave, but I know the weave has no bearing on the quality.
