If you're going to track it then E46M3 . If not 335.

Most people here are choosing with their penis. It all depends what you do with the car. Is it a dd? Don't let these guys fool
you, the 335i is sooooo much better as a comfortable luxury sports sedan/coupe. The M3 is the harsher animal, but I admit, much more purpose built and therefore faster and more fun...for tracking. Like someone else said, it also really depends on what cars are available. A low mileage LAguna seca M3 would be as good a choice as a low mileage space gray 335i. Really depends on how you use the car in the end. Something else I noticed, the e92 design is much more feminine than the E46. That is true of their respective M3's as well. The older E46 design is so deliciously tough looking, while the e92 is sleeker and attractive (almost sexually attractive lol). I have owned a e46 M3 and loved it as much as I love the 335i...I'm many ways, the twin turbos on the 335i makes it more of a "great" car... Another interesting fact, both the s54 and the N54 are international engine of the year winners (most points regardless of category for that engine). The N54 and the S85, both actually won it 2x...the s65 is (IMO wrongly) left out. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter...edirected=true Last edited by GnokGnik; 02-12-2010 at 01:44 PM.. |

At the end of the day , you are the one who's going to pick ...
Think about some facts : Daily driver ? y/n ///M feeling or Higher Comfort ? I would pick E46 M3 , it's an M , don't wanna hurt anyone , but 335i will never be an M3 , eventhough it's a very good car . |

I am not making this a 335i vs M3. I actually likeD my old laguna seca blue e46 M3 more than my 335i...not that big of a fan of the new E92 M3 though. I decided it wasn't gonna be worth it to switch from a 335i to a e92 m3, even though I know the new M3 is better. I'll just wait til the twin turbo 6 cylinder M3 in the works. I love FI and I understand why a lot of you guys don't, Its just my opinion. |

The E46 M3 is a great car, but not as good DD as a 335 IMO. Also, you'll be able to squeeze close to 400 hp with tunes. But the M3 will be a better track car off the bat, depends on your priorities I guess. In your shoes, I would get the 335.

335 is a great car, but so is the M3. The M3 felt better to me during test drives, and feels even better when you start doing some high speed canyon runs.
The ideal setup is to have a plush daily and bust out the 'harsher' M for some spirited driving. Get a nice M3, get a warranty for it, and just enjoy.

Eventhough I'm biased.. go with the 335, very easy to mod, it's essentially a detuned 400hp / 400lbft engine from the factory.. Shiv just ran 11.5XX at 125mph today with tune and meth.. and the torque is AMAZING!! And HPF is working on a single turbo upgrade, so the next few years of development will be really fun, believe me it won't be viewed as just another 3 series..

I'd get an early E46, then HPF turbo it. In the end it all comes down to what you want. Keep us updated.
