They offered a non turbo in the MKIV, I assume this is the "lesser equivalent" to the new lineup. It beat the stock MKIV in the drag race and is roughly what, 200 lbs lighter? With a DP and tune, hell even a stuffed turbo those are going to be a force to be reckoned with.
Where I dont understand is the price point.. it should be priced well under the b58 car and it isn't. This is why they arent moving. |

I plan on upgrading my 987.2 this summer and I keep coming back to this car. I'm looking at 981s, 982 base and c4 but the more I watch videos on this car the more I like it. You can also pickup a used 2020 premium for 5k less than the other cars I mentioned with just a few thousand miles on it. Compared to around 30-35k miles on the other models I mentioned.

Honestly i do not have the numbers but it has to be way cheaper than a Cayman to track and perform just as well no? Porsche consumables would be eye watering.

I don't think the consumables are that different in price but it would depend on what you're grouping into that. However, just the difference in base cars alone is 18-20k which buys a lot of mods/track time.

For the track the pricing is pretty similar. Performance pads run about the same price for both vehicles and big brake kits run about the same price for both vehicles. Upgraded rotors by themselves are a bit cheaper for the Supra it looks like though. Brake fluid is obviously the same. In regards to street rotor/pads, I'm not sure for the Supra but I do know you can get a full set of rotor and pads for a 987/981 for about $500 with decent pads.
Hard part pricing seems to definitely be cheaper on the Supra. Just looking at various suspension components like adjustable LCA is half the cost of a 981. |

How can you get a set of Porsche rotors and pads for $500? Our X3 was $750 after exhaustive shopping. Just bigger everything due to heavier vehicle?

I had a quick look on rock auto, and I can do front and rear for the wife's X5, with shipping and tax comes to just north of $500 CAD, ditto for the X3.

So, I talked to my wife about this car over the weekend and I think there is a very high chance I'm going to buy a used 2020. Based off reviews and videos I think it fits what I'm looking for the best but I still need to test drive one to make sure.
It cost me $540 to do my 987 brakes and that was with OEM manufacturer pads and Bosch rotors. If you paid OEM pricing on a 987/981 it would be $1000 and on the flip side you could buy some of those cheap generic kits from Power Stop and the like for $350 which includes everything. Those same cheap kits can be bought for your X3 for $300+ off of Amazon and other sources. So if someone wanted to go cheap they could pay half of what you did. Though I also see you're in Canada so I'm not sure on the difference there. |

I won't be buying until early June so I doubt I'd be lucky enough to find any remaining ones on the lot. I did see that after incentives, there are dealers doing 49-50k on 2021 premium models. The issue I have is the closer I get to 50k the more I justify a 52-53k 981s/982.

I'm gonna chime in here finally now that I have driven one...
Drove a 2020 Supra on track Saturday and an M2 Comp also back-to-back. Supra has softer suspension, terrible visibility, was tight quarters for me (I'm a tiny 5'4" person) having to sit pretty far forward to reach the pedals, and had terrible buffeting at 80+ mph with the windows down... I Much preferred the M2C. Interiors are nearly identical but the Toyota had cheaper feeling steering wheel leather. With proper coilovers the Supra would probably be better, but stock for stock I would take the M2.
