Who is using their M2 as their daily driver?
I am still waiting on my allocation for my M2 and it is looking like it will be around the beginning of fall. I am planning on using my M2 as my DD but am wondering what others plan to do with theirs. If you are using your m2 as a DD will you be putting snow tires on or not?

I will be DD'ng my M2 in Atlantic Canada.
Getting the M2 winter set that, while not out yet, will be the same as the M3/4 - 18" 640M's with your preferred winter tires (I'm undecided). |

I'm in Ontario where we don't get nearly as much, and I'm still debating winter tires or a beater. |

I will be using my M2 as a daily driver for my 116 mile round trip daily commute. I project I will drive 25 to 28,000 miles a year. I plan on this being my primary car for 5-6 years and then converting it to a dedicated track car. No traffic on my commute I have average about 60 mph on the commute so its very easy on the car.

Do you have any idea how much a set of those tires go for in the U.S. I do not have experience driving a RWD car in the winter do you think it will hold up ok?

As for drivability, it's fine. If you've never had a performance car in the winter though, the BMW or any other winter driving school is a good investment (and a lot of fun). |

Optimum ONR is a great way to wash a car in the cold or very hot weather. Doesn't require a hose and you can do it in the comfort of your garage. I use it here in AZ during the summer and on those few cold days in the winter. Of course cold in Arizona is probably warm for most from northern climates.

Daily driver and always drive through winter with good snows. Cars are meant to be driven.

I completely agree, I had a sales rep tell me the other week that the m2 is not a great DD and that many people are buying them just to hold on to them and only drive on special occasions.

It's no more uncomfortable or louder than my M4. Lots DD their M4's so why a SA would suggest otherwise is beyond me

If you are not an idiot and respect the driving conditions you're fine. It was funny seeing the ditch filled with Mustangs, Camaros and various other RWD cars every single time it snowed. I would routinely get tailgated and passed by these fools only to see them in the ditch 1 mile later. Drive intelligently and you're fine. Snow and ice = drive slow and avoid slamming on your breaks. Use the gas and steer out of hazards when possible. Hitting the break is basically relinquishing control of your vehicle to the road surface's whims. Also, stay the hell away from steep hills. Take the long way around them. |

After a quick google search I found that I knew more about the vehicles I test drove than the sales staff who's only concern is a quick buck. Most of them view it as a sales job and know nothing about cars. Their skills, experience and knowledge is in selling stuff. Cars are just widgets for them. |

I never listen to anything a sales guy says, I have had several tell me that I would have to pay a market adjustment because the M2 is a limited edition car and that I should buy the M4 they have in stock instead. I am sure the M2 won't be as comfortable of a DD as many cars out there and it will cost more to operate than my wife's Honda but none of that is relevant to me. From my perspective buying a car to put in your garage to depreciate instead of driving it doesn't make any sense at all. I would never own a car that I won't drive. My buddy has a 911, his dream car and he drives a Malibu daily to keep from putting miles on the 911, in a year he has put less than 4,000 miles on his car. I don't get it. If your not going to drive the car then save the money and go do a Porsche driving experience or M school each year to get the experience and save a ton of cash. Yes there will be many better DD from a ride comfort perspective and operating costs but I am looking forward to immersion in the M2 experience, that will come with good and perhaps some bad, probably just jolting ride on bumpy roads but that is a small price to pay for the grin on my face each day.

It's my DD. I have a set of M6 reps I'll be powder coating black and mounting blizzaks on. Just have to make sure they fit.

It will be my DD. If I'm spending the money, I'm enjoying every bit of it! Although I might be keeping the 135is for the first winter as a beater.
