Had a parallel experience at one of our favorite restaurants the other day. The cute young chick taking our order talked at light-speed, so I was having a difficult time understanding what she was saying. I asked her twice to please repeat, but this time at a slower speed. Did no good. Finally, my wife (with excellent hearing) figured it out after the 3rd try.
