Your post reminded me that I'm looking forward to the W206 Mercedes Benz C Class this year. I don't have any intention to purchase one, but I am so intrigued by the rumors that the AMG models will be powered by hybridized I4 engines. If this comes to pass, it will represent one the most aggressive moves toward electrification of any long-standing model in the industry. Volvo did it too (for their entire lineup, even), but their performance aspirations are far more modest as are their sales.
And for that matter, the entire Mercedes-AMG powertrain lineup has me curious, including the "53e","63e", and "73e" designations reportedly coming this year to the SL you mention as well as the S Class and perhaps others.
