Just mow them using the side discharge no need for the mulching kit. If the yard has heavy leaves on one side and light leaves on the other just start at the heavy side going back and forth by the time you reach the other side you won't be blowing any leaves as they will have been reduced each pass and it helps to average the leaf coverage over the entire yard. Just avoid building up big piles.
