I haven’t pursued the topic of tri turbo diesel since then, but if you are correct, I’m very excited. A tri turbo diesel would probably have about 340-350 hp & above 650 Nm. I recently drove back to back a 318d & 330d. If 318d could be described as fast or robust on public roads with 130 km/h speed limit, the 100 hp & 200 Nm difference make a rocket ship out of the 330d. Since a difference between the hypothetical tri turbo diesel & 330d would also be around 100 hp & 200Nm, a 5er with that kind of an engine would be amazing. I’m afraid though that if it indeed goes into production, the tri turbo would be available only in the 7er & the X5/6, just like Audi’s 4.2 liter v8 diesel is available only with the A8 & Q7.
my info is first on x5/6 facelift, then on 5 f10
