Your residential parking situation is very similar to mine. I'm definitely hugging the pillar to avoid my neighbor's pick up truck's large door, lol.
He's a cool guy though, and we've joked about this parking topic on a few occasions. We've agreed to be extremely cautious around our respective cars.
