The M2 is the forthcoming (2016) high performance model above the M235i. Just like the M3/M4 is high performance model above the 335i/435i (soon to be 340i/440i)
The "M" in 235i denotes that it is a M Sport/performance model, it's the same as the "is" models from a few yrs back (examples: 135is, 335is). So, to answer your question, it would not have "M2" on it, because it is not an M2, but a M235i. Now, I suspect someone will knock the "35i" off of their car, so that people will think that they have an "M2"
