Good estimate! I had to replace one of my Z4's xenon units damaged in a parking lot encounter. The parts price was around $800 for the unit plus ca. $200 for the bulb. Incidentally, there were 5 different BMW part numbers listed for an '03 Z4 xenon unit! (One reason I've got good ol' halogens on my 128i.)
