You would have to be an overt Porsche stan to pick a non-4.0 718 over a C8 IMO. That's craziness.

Used 991 could be a good alternative but its still not new.

This is precisely why I'd go with the C8. For $75K you have fairly high technology American sportscar, with great performance that has probably one of the more exciting designs on the road today.

Extremely hard to beat.
I was just giving a recommendation, especially since Corvette spots are pretty much all taken for the next 2-years and even if someone drops their spot, dealers will be marking up the cars that are dropped, this was what I was told by the manager of three different Chevy dealers.

That is also why I mentioned "if you don't mind the Flat-4." The new C8 is a performance bargain but many reviews have criticized its favoring of GT handling and understeer compared to its more raw and engaging predecessor the C7, hence why if looking purely for a great driving experience under $70k, a 981/982 Cayman/Boxster could be a good test drive to take even with the flat-4. 911's that are new enough and low enough in miles while still having some options are most likely going to be above OP's $70k limit.
