One of our employees made a suggestion that we start adding our preferred gender pronouns to our e-mail signatures. The executive team discussed it with HR last week. I said "My photo is already attached to my Outlook profile. You can clearly see I have a full beard and my name is Dave. I'd like my peers to take that information in and judge me appropriately based on my outer appearance. That's my preference and I believe I have a right to ask to be evaluated in that manner. If you are dead set on me making a statement about gender pronouns in my e-mail signature I'll simply put, Look at photo and decide for yourself." I thought our very well intentioned 25 year old HR kid was going to fall out of his/her/them chair.
