Wowie - Rindt's letter to Colin is speaking truth to this period of F1. BTW....where on earth did you find this letter? Was it on the internet? Jim Clark's F2 Lotus was the car he was driving when he went off-course and hit trees at 170 MPH. The cause of failure was never definitively determined but is believed to be a slowly deflating rear tire.
