No lithium-ion battery should be charged past 80% on a regular basis. It wears it out faster.

That being said, the effect is small. It's doing it every day where it adds up. Also, it can take as long to charge from 80% to 100% as it did to go from 20% to 80%. It just isn't worth the time, particularly on a long road trip.
