I have not really needed to use this on my Model 3 yet since it's always at home in the "city" and I rarely drive it at night. The auto high beams on my Ford truck however I have used a lot and I would say it works fairly well and errs on the side of caution turning them off sooner and more often than I would. That being said sometimes it gets confused and wont turn on when it's pitch black.

A note on the Tesla though. They like to add features through software updates. I know the model 3 did not have rain sensing wipers and at some point it was added with an over the air update. That means it's totally software based. I'm not sure what other mfg use to do the rain sense however since Tesla could not add hardware they use the camera they use for autopilot and so it's one of the worst rain sense wipers I've ever used. Maybe they did something similar with the auto high beams.
