Wow! This is such an incredible story. Have one of my own. In 2013, I imported a 1993 inline 6 cylinder 320i sedan from Japan that came manufactured from Munich. Have it to this day. Sunroof, full leather interior but an auto trans (really wanted a manual). Came with the full M sport kit. Very well maintained for it's age. Took the car across East African borders and got offered all these crazy monies but I haven't batted an eyelid to any proposition. During the darkest trials of my life, I met friends from across borders with similar tastes as mine and for what its worth, the car has offered therapy, comfort and solace.
As you said, BMW and M did create some icons in these machines.
