DCT is very quick and smooth compared to SMG and the downshifts are just amazing but having said that, anybody can drive a DCT car. It doesn't require any skills. You just have your foot planted on the gas and flip the paddles whereas, SMG is completely opposite. It is a true manual transmission. It behaves like one. It rolls down the hill just like a manual, you have to lift off to change gears just like a manual. Downshifts and rev-matching have to be mastered just like a manual. This is my 3rd SMG and I love the transmission. If you know how to drive it, it's a lot of fun. Auto mode in SMG is garbage. It's too slow and jerky but manual mode in high setting is fun.

I know a lot of people just won't even consider an SMG car but I have no issues buying one. I've had (4) E46 M3's and 3 out of 4 with SMG trans.
