The sheriff finished his investigation, and turned the results over to the District Attorney. The DA has announced he will bring the evidence to a grand jury, who will decide whether to indict Stewart or not.
Not necessarily a bad sign for Stewart. The DA may just be looking to provide the public with reassurance that nothing was swept under the rug. Or he may be looking for an indictment. We should know the result in a few weeks.
