I had a oem wheel for my M4 done by Coby Wheel and the quality was good, and held up well for the 12000 or so miles I used it. Thickness was comparable to the stock leather wheel because my understanding is that he sands down the leather before wrapping it. You can see faint lines under the alcantara where two pieces of leather are stitched together at the 10 and 2 positions, but nothing distracting. The best thing about wrapping it vs getting the m performance wheel is that the steering wheel heater remains functional (for cars with heated wheels) and works quite well.
