The industry (as far as I know) calls them a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC). Just call it a "PCC" for a 9mm because that's what the majority are, and perhaps if you're building an oddball 45ACP PCC I'd personally use "a PCC in 45ACP." Even "PCC-45" would be better.
technically the ar9 is an ar15 9mm but ar9 is what everyone calls it
I haven't heard anyone call them that, but admittedly I'm no expert, and it's not exactly like people talk guns often around here (NY-Metro), so I'll yield my position here. I just see everyone call them PCCs when I shop for them.
